Cigarette production in Prilep started in the technological department of the Institute in Prilep. Here in fact was created the first assortment of Prilep's cigarettes that were sold in whole territory of SFR Yugoslavia.

Mass cigarette production with wide and rich assortment, that contained the blend of renown aromatic Prilep's tobaccos, had started with the relocation of the Cigarette fabrication from the Institute to Tutunski Kombinat in 1955.

Accordingly, Cigarette manufacturing can be divided in two periods: Experimental production of the Tobacco Institute and Production in Tutunski Kombinat.

EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTION OF THE TOBACCO INSTITUTE

From 1951 to 1955 was produced the assortment of groups of experimental cigarettes enumerated from 1—10 with same technical design. The best selling cigarette was no. 7, that was deemed as one that belongs of the 'people'.

Experimental Morava was cigarette from second quality group, started with production in 1953, with blend of Macedonian, Herzegovian and experimental Virginia from the Institute. In the same year had been launched and „Poizkusna cigareta“ for Slovenian smokers.

FIRST CIGARETTES OF TKP

IV quality group

DRAVA – has been selling since 1955, in hard and soft pack. Three times rewarded on Skopje's Fair, hard pack version was also called 'Golden Drava'.

III quality group

IBAR - has been selling since 1955 (hard pack), while soft pack in 1971, with mixture of Prilep's and Herzegovian tobaccos.

ZETA - has been selling since 1964 with hard pack. In upper right angle is standing the letter „П“ that represents the town Prilep. The second design imitated girl in folk costume, that represents the tobacco stringing. It contained blend of Macedonian, Herzegovian tobaccos and experimental Virginia from the Institute.

MAKEDONKA - has been selling since 1965, twice rewarded with golden medal.

OHRID - has been selling since 1965, in hard card pack. The design imitates seagull above Ohrid Lake.

FILTER MAKEDONKA - has been selling since the end of 1965 and beginning of 1966. Filter cigarette exclusively in soft pack. There were also long cigarettes with calibre of 8 mm.

II quality group

VARDAR - has been selling since 1955, card pack in boxes with lid, from the best Macedonian and selected Herzegovian tobaccos. It was rewarded with golden medal on the Skopje's fair.

FILTER PRILEP - has been selling since 1961, in card and soft pack with blend of Macedonian and Herzegovian tobaccos and Virginia, with figure of king Marko.

MORAVA – first time produced in 1963. Cigarette without filter in card pack with lid.

MARATON - has been selling since 1962, without filter, in card pack, in left upper angle it was sketched Ohrid with marathon swimmer; with tobaccos from Prilep and Herzegovina.

YUGOSLAVIA - has been selling since 1964, card pack with lid.

ILINDEN – started to sell for celebration „10 days Krushevo Republic“, soft pack.

MORAVA - has been selling since 1965 with card box, with selected tobaccos from Prilep and Herzegovina; with macedonian folk pattern and emblem of tobacco leaves.

FILTER YUGOSLAVIA - has been selling since 1963-64, long 72mm, and other version with 85mm. Soft pack in red colour. Before the start of it's selling, it was prepared with special analyses of all Yugoslavian tobaccos, more than a year.

The most piquant cigarette for European and American taste, the most popular and the best selling in Yugoslavia, mainly consisted of Prilep's tobaccos; without artificial sauces and aromas. It was rewared with golden medal in the „Economic chamber“ of Belgrade, 1971.

I quality group

DRINA – produced in 1962 with card pack, calibre 8mm without filter.

EVROPA – started to sell in 1969 with special English card pack; in the upper part there were 3 tobacco leaves, with globe and map of the world. With modern pack, tinfoil and special red tape, with length of 80 mm; Macedonian, Herzegovian tobaccos and Virginia.

FILTER 72 – production started in 1972, for celebration of 4-th April. The design was made on white surface with Macedonian heraldic emblem with lion, dated from 1916. Blend of Macedonian, Herzegovian tobaccos and Virginia, without artificial sauces and aromas.

Extra quality group

MAKEDONIJA – produced in 1957 in card boxes without lid. In right angle stands coat of arms of Yugoslavia, and in the left golden medal. Cigarette without filter with length of 70mm. Among oriental tobaccos it took the first place in Yugoslavia and in the world. It was launched for the visit of the marshal Tito in 1957 година, firstly as a gift and then placed in the market.

MAKEDONIJA – has been selling since 1956 in card box, with 30 cigarettes in the box. On the inside part of the lid there was panorama of tobacco plantation and sketch of the field of Varosh.

11-Oktomvri – without filter, length 67mm, calibre 8 mm. Launched in 1961 for the celebration „20 years of the Revolution of Macedonia“. In the middle there was the Order, National Hero, from 1941 to 1961; with 20 cigarettes in card box with lid.

SAMUIL – filter cigarette with length of 80mm, highest achievement of the American cigarette blend, has been selling since 1972. In the middle of the box outlined are the towers of Macedonian tzar Samuil.
